“Calm down Lynch,” Tad had laughed one day in Latin as he span his chair around to talk to Adam, kicking his feet up on Parrish’s desk. “I only want to speak with him.” Adam had looked up then, sharp blue eyes and what looked like a fading bruise on his cheek hastily covered in cheap concealer. Tad nodded to it, “I can show you a better brand.”
“And I can show your nose the inside of your brain,” Lynch snapped before Adam could speak. Tad waited for Gansey to say ‘Ronan’ softly like he always did but it never came.
“Tad,” Adam said softly leaning back in his chair. Ronan had his heckles raised and Gansey was sat on the edge of his seat. “Considering you can’t even read in English; I suggest you spend less time provoking Lynch and more time trying to actually pass the classes daddy is paying for.”

“Is this bird yours, Snake?” Orla’s voice interrupts from the kitchen.
“A raven?” Ronan asks.
“Yeah. Can she come in?”
“If you don’t mind,” Ronan says. “I figured you wouldn’t want her in the house.”
It strikes Blue as oddly considerate, even though not bringing your dreamed-up pet bird into someone else’s home seems like something that most of the population wouldn’t have to think twice about.
