And now he had humiliated her, likening that cherished reminder of home to the garments of a harlot.
“It bares only my shoulders. You are being ridiculous” She felt tears gathering in her eyes, though she could not tell whether they sprang from anger or sorrow “The other ladies said I looked beautiful.”
“So did the other lords” He stepped closer. Only then did she notice the tightness in his jaw, the coldness in his eyes “I have no doubt that is precisely why you favor it. It allows you to display yourself before them” His gaze settled upon her shoulders.
He reached out, his fingertips rested lightly against her shoulders .
“You shared this with them…” His thumb barely brushed her skin “…when it belongs to me alone.”--- Or ---
