Summary
Phillip Carlyle takes his job as PT Barnum's apprentice/partner/voice of reason/friend very seriously.
Fortunately, PT Barnum takes his job as Phillip Carlyle's mentor/partner/bad influence/friend fairly seriously too.
Or, a series of somewhat connected stories loosely based on the premise of five times Phillip helped Barnum out, and that time Barnum returned the favor. Though in most of these you'd be hard pressed to tell who is helping whom more. And maybe that's the point.
Generally Gen, though if you'd care to read these as vaguely Barlyle I certainly won't stop you. (As if anyone could.)

Summary
Phillip can tell, as soon as he gets to the circus, that everyone knows. He sees it in the sympathetic tilt of Anne's head from where she and WD are rehearsing on one of the lower platforms. He hears it in Charles's greeting, small and sincere when it should be caustic and droll. He feels it in Lettie's stare, warm and worried while she adjusts Constantine's cape.

Summary
My take on how Anne ended up trapped inside the building, her point of view throughout it, and of course, her vigil by Phillip's bed side, and above all, the aftermath.
"In the early afternoon, Anne was growing anxious. She had never seen him so still. The man was always moving, always fidgeting with something or bouncing on his toes or anything else except being utterly still.
He was a creature of movement, and because of her he was laying motionless in a hospital bed, still struggling to breathe even after almost 12 hours. "Anne never thought he'd make a miraculous recovery, but apparently Phillip didn't seem to take the hint to not push himself. Therefore, she'd be there every step of the way, along with her brother and the rest of the circus, to keep him from falling over his own two feet or else dying in front of her. Again.
