Summary
He just wants a break. Just one hour, ten minutes, hell even just five minutes for him to disconnect from the reality that stipulates his every move and recharge until he feels like something a little more human, and a little less counterfeit.
And Ilya — god, it feels like they’ve barely been able to talk to each other these past few weeks. Their facetimes are few and far between, phone calls even sparser, and their texts have been reduced to fleeting heart emojis (and the occasional eggplant), a rare selfie, and good mornings and good nights to bookend their days. Sure, they’ve gone longer without contact, surviving the stretches apart solely on flirty messages and debauched banter before games, but now that it’s real? Now that he has Ilya all to himself? It’s nearly debilitating to go just a day without something. He feels like a junkie, waiting impatiently for Ilya to respond to his messages, to answer his facetime calls, to hear him whisper moy lyubimy and malysh possessively into the speaker, wishing that he was hearing them in person, in their bed, under their sheets.

Shane has had a long week. Ilya takes care of him. That’s it. That’s the fic. (Oh, and Shane can turn into a sugar glider.)

Summary
Ilya is an asshole to Shane in Sochi. He's an asshole again in Vegas.
Shane decides he doesn't hate himself enough to put up with this shit.
It takes everything he has, but he ends it with Ilya.
Ilya isn't having it.

Summary
“You’re cute when you worry,” he meets Shane’s eye, smiling both because it’s true, and because he’s trying to convince Shane that he’s okay. “Mr Caretaker. Mr Nurse.”
“That’s Mr Doctor to you,” Shane chirps back.
“Oh so you have medical degree now?”
“I don’t need a medical degree to see how sick you are, Ilya. You were seriously going to play like this?”
“Who do you think I am? Of course not. I said if I felt better, I could have played. And I did not feel better. "
Four weeks, two major league hockey players sharing a brain cell and a little something aptly nicknamed 'The Kissing Disease'.

Summary
mar·ces·cence /mɑːrˈsɛs.əns/ noun
The phenomenon where a plant retains its dead, withered leaves through the winter instead of dropping them in autumn. The state of un-shed foliage losing its colour, drying out, and breaking apart under harsh elements while remaining rigidly attached to the branch.
*No one can know Shane's an omega, and no one can know he's slowly falling apart. So Shane puts his gear on, locks his trembling knees, and steps back onto the ice.
His mate doesn’t want him. His mate doesn’t want him. Ilya doesn’t want him.

Summary
“Hollander,” Ilya murmured gently. “Bath is ready.”
Shane cracked his eyes open, staring dumbly at the burly Russian hovering over him where he was still laying in bed.
“…bath?” He croaked, voice raspy with disuse.
“Mm. I ran you a bath. It will make you feel better before you go to sleep tonight. Will help with your sore muscles.”
Shane asks Ilya to fuck him gently during one of their regular hookups, badly bruised from their game. Ilya runs him a bath afterwards, and they fall secretly and desperately in love that way, through whispered confessions and late night conversations while Shane soaks, and Ilya quietly observes him.
