Summary
It was a Saturday evening. Elias stood at his kitchen counter chopping up vegetables to make a pasta sauce for dinner. It was usually a small dish, but he had doubled the recipe, because tonight he was cooking for two.
The blinds were open at the window above his sink to give him a pleasant view of his garden. A garden which currently (poorly) hid a spying archivist.
Jon tries to spy on Elias without knowing about an oncoming rainstorm. Elias invites him inside to dry off and have dinner.

Summary
It didn't surprise Elias that Jon was sick, per se, but it surprised him that he had called out because of it.
It was fairly predictable for him to have caught a cold after stalking Elias out in the rain that past weekend. Elias had done what he could, providing a change of clothes and a hot meal, but it unfortunately wasn't quite enough to offset the effect.
Jon had come to work before in much worse condition, however. Elias had had to send him home with a fever multiple times, dating back to his days in the Research department, and he had always protested, insisting that he was perfectly well enough to keep working, even when he very obviously was not. It was distinctly unusual for him to call out sick over something like a cold.
Jon calls in sick, and Elias stops by his flat to check on him and make him soup.

Just beyond the entrance, Elias was talking to Rosie. Though his back was facing the door, Jon didn't have any illusion about getting back to the Archive unnoticed; Tim seemed bummed, though. Like a kid failing in his secret mission of sneaking past a parent.
“Jonathan,” Elias called out, barely raising his voice, “if you can find the time, see me in my office later.” His tone made it perfectly clear that it wasn't a mere suggestion and Jon would do good to find the time to do so.
“Of course,” Jon agreed, ushering Tim ahead quickly.
“What's he gonna do, spank you for smoking?”

A really fun aspect of this fic is that the author is a GO fan and wrote the fic in a similar style to how the GO novel is written (so make sure to read the footnotes!)
Simon hates to see Peter and Elias ‘winning’ (not actively divorcing) and is going to use Elias’ hubris against them. That and they are just stupid. Elias is very GO Crowley coded.
