“What’s Uncle Soobin’s favourite colour?” Beomgyu gasps out of nowhere. Excited hands clapping together as he goes on his knees and again, bounce on the mattress. “It’s brown!” Beomgyu announces, answering his own question and answering for Soobin.
“Brown?” Taehyun unevenly echoes. It’s clear he’s slightly startled at the uncommon guess. It’s so hard to call it a guess, when Beomgyu seems so sure when he said it. “D’you really think so, sweetheart?”
Taehyun glances at Soobin, half expecting him to correct Beomgyu or to just say something. But Soobin simply stays lying on his stomach, unable to find the proper words to say out loud how he feels. Because as he finds Taehyun’s eyes again, holding them that equally stays on his, Soobin thinks Beomgyu is right.

“Scent me, please. I need you to scent me.”
“I can’t do that, Taehyun-ah,” Soobin says through gritted teeth, grip tightening on the knob as he tries to hold himself in place. Taehyun always found it amusing how Soobin is an open book, how he can’t mask his emotions. “We both know that.”
“Why not? I’m asking you,” he says, trying to keep the alluring tone but not doing a good job at it. Taehyun wants to cry, his wolf can almost sense the second rejection coming their way like another low blow. Taehyun hasn’t been dealing well with the first rejection while being in a normal condition, who knows how he’ll endure it while in his heat. “No, I’m begging you.”
“Taehyun, we’re not together anymore. We broke up, remember?” Soobin says, softly but so cruel at the same time. “I can’t scent you anymore, especially when you’re not in your right mind. You’re in heat, and I’m sure that my scent will be the least helpful thing at the moment.”
Six months after their break-up, Taehyun finds himself in what only could be considered the worst of lucks possible: experiencing a heat while Soobin, his ex boyfriend, is only a few rooms away from him.

It was cruel, the way Beomgyu’s fingers guided another bite of sugared peach between his lips the same time his words poisoned him.
“You’re hormonally sterile, aren’t you?”
Taehyun’s world was ripped from underneath him despite Beomgyu sucking his thumb into his mouth, eyes locked on his innocently. It was just a question, and Beomgyu was just asking, around a mouthful of soft peaches and curiosity.
Summer droned around them, sweat prickling their skin and the wind far too lazy for the heat, while Taehyun remained silent. There was nothing he could do to peel the shame from his skin or erase the words that had been spoken into the humid air.
The fingers that intertwined with his were soft, albeit a little bit sticky. The touch of companionship.
“Even if you are...” Beomgyu whispered with warmth in his eyes. “Soobin worships you.”
As if Yeonjun doesn’t worship you… Taehyun thought as he forced a small smile. Difference was, Beomgyu was vibrant in ways Taehyun could never be.A story told between pages of Taehyun’s insecurities while he learns how to be loved wholeheartedly.

His tongue traces around the sharpness of Taehyun's incisors meticulously, marking an invisible path inside of him.
Taehyun grows hungry again.
"You're so cute, kitten…" Soobin whispers touching his lips, he tries to dive in for another kiss, but Taehyun pulls back. Soobin's chocolate scent sours slightly from his reaction.

He invited Soobin out on walks and talked to him sincerely, asking about his troubles, not knowing that Soobin's troubles mostly came down to how he spent the whole time daydreaming unrealistic fantasies of Taehyun pinning him against the wall of the nearby convenience store and ravishing him like Soobin was an omega in heat.
It was getting to a point where it was just ridiculous.

“Okay,” Soobin mumbled and closed his eyes for a second to picture the card, opening them after.
“Got one?” Taehyun asked as he grabbed a deck of normal cards.
Soobin nodded.
“Good. Keep it in your mind. Picture it.”
Taehyun shuffled a deck with one hand, the cards whispering against each other. Then, he spread them face down like a fan. “Now, for the dramatic part.”
He paused. Looked straight at Soobin.
Taehyun’s eyes flickered, as if reading something invisible. Then he plucked one card from the deck and held it between two fingers. “This one,” he said softly. “I think this is the one."
