Summary
My submission for day 4 of Liam Dunbar Appreciation Week 2020: angst. LDAW2020 is being hosted on Tumblr, go check it out there!
A heavily headcanoned (and angsty) character study of Liam Dunbar (poor babey) that is, on my computer, named “Liam’s Daddy Issues”. This is an accurate description.

Summary
Essentially a 6x11 rewrite: what if Liam's battle against Halwyn left him far more injured than in the original episode?
“I got you,” Mason said as he half-dragged half-carried Liam’s stumbling form to a nearby bench. Gently setting him down, he grimaced, hands hovering uncertainly over his best friend as Liam gasped softly as his head thumped dully against the locker.
Liam ripped off his bloodied and tattered shirt, discarding the unsalvageable material to the side as a deep groan forced its way through his throat, eyes clenched shut as pain seared through his body.
“It should be healing faster than this,” Liam grunted, blinking through the sweat dripping down his forehead and clogging his eyes as he stared at the slowly healing gashes marring his body, more than a little concerned.
Mason stuttered for a moment, before deciding on: “it’s hellfire. I mean, all things considered, you’re doing great.”
OR: another reason for me to hurt Liam, which may or may not be my new favourite pasttime.

Summary
His stomach had already been twisted violently as he had to watch Liam's hand shake in his lap, recounting what had exactly happened with his biological father, the way his eyes never once moved up from the floor. It’s not that Theo–he cared, he did. But, he didn’t think he was allowed that right. Not after what he had done.
But hearing Liam recount the way he had frozen when his father had swung at him, how he reacted just a second too late, being splayed out on the floor until he came back online, it made Theo wonder why Liam didn’t react as quickly as he usually did. Why Liam didn’t pull the first swing out, like usual. The blood was still crusted on his upper lip from where it dripped out of his nose, the skin of his knuckles had already stitched itself back together by this point.
