Summary
Like most thirty-something-year-old single men living in Erebor, Bilbo is beginning to wonder what his life is all about. Is he truly meant to keep living alone in his small apartment? To keep working at a desk at the same company year after year with very few opportunities for advancement? He's beginning to feel rather down about it all until a sudden change in management at the company completely alters his current existence.
Don't let the word count fool you. This story includes a lot of images.

Summary
In the aftermath of the War of the Ring, Bilbo's kicking back in Erebor, thinking life is FINALLY gonna be all sunshine and daisies. But when Gimli comes waltzing back after a year of adventures and as love-sick as one can get, suddenly peace is just a distant memory.
Erebor gets thrown into a crazy mix of dwarf politics, love between an elf and a dwarf starts diplomatic chaos, internal fights erupt within the mountain, and, believe it or not, there are some marriage problems too for Bilbo and Thorin.
As the halls of Erebor become a hotbed of conflicts, Bilbo's stuck right in the middle of it. Leadership headaches, unconventional romance, and that pesky backache that never leaves him make for a wild ride. It's post-War mayhem, and Erebor and the whole world are rocking with the beats of change.

Some may imagine that a noble quest is at hand. A quest to reclaim a homeland and slay a dragon. A quest that will unveil long-forgotten tales of Durin's folk and bring two to the boundaries of their longing. - Yes there is smut and plenty of it (chapter 7 and 8 for the impatient ones).
"There is an ancient tale, of whispered echoes below the earth, of a keeper of secrets with a heart of stone. It is said that Durin fell in love with a mortal man. When Aulë the Valar learned of his betrayal he hid the man deep below the ground, cursed with eternal life, to never make it to the halls of our ancestors, to always hold the past in whispered praise. Only when the last age of this earth has been lived may he return and reunite with Durin again. The tale is widely discussed as untrue." Bilbo could hear Thorin's even breath next to him. "I used to think it untrue too. After tonight, I am not so sure anymore."
He didn’t know how greedy his heart really was, up until this moment. Bilbo sunk beneath his bones, like no axe ever could.
