Summary
Andrew has always been the one others look to for protection, for saving, for safety. He’s made his share of deals, wielded knives for others, fought battles that weren’t his to fight. Having someone else do the same for him, to want to do the same for him, is a disturbing and frightening prospect. But maybe, just maybe, it doesn’t have to be a bad thing.

Neil had seen the guy around campus a few times. It was hard not to. The exy team stood out. Or those three did, anyway. The twins with their shock-white blond hair and perpetual resting bastard face, and Kevin Day, the number 2 arrogantly tattooed on a high cheekbone, flanked as usual by at least one of the twins.
And Neil knew their reputation. It’s why he stayed away.

“There is a difference between tampering your personality and completely changing it, it’s not just hiding a bit of who you are to have peace, it’s lying from head to toe," Andrew comments.
“And?” Betsy asks. She knows it doesn’t end there, because that still doesn’t explain why Andrew hasn't talked about something else other than Neil Josten in such a meeting.
“And I thought he was boring.” But this isn’t typically dull, this is something more and Andrew doesn’t understand how someone can be beaming a second and have all the light sucked away from them another. There must be a lie somewhere.
(Basically, Neil is a student in one of Andrew's courses and he can't help but want to solve the mystery that he is.)
