Summary
Despite what the stories may say, Annabeth Chase is not invincible. Sure, she’s gotten herself out of more impossible situations than she’d care to count, surreptitiously ticks her fingers down from nine to eight to seven lives when appropriate, but this is a whole other beast.

Summary
Annabeth chewed the inside of her cheek. “I’m excited to see you, Percy. I— I missed you.”
She heard Percy breathing through the phone.
Oh gods, she thought, I made everything all weird. He’s not responding. Oh, my gods.
Annabeth was about to say, “Never mind” when Percy replied, “Good. Me too, Wise Girl. See you tomorrow.” And then he hung up.
Annabeth face-planted on her bed. She had a date— friend get-together, she meant— to prepare for.

Summary
Hazel didn’t have most of the products she normally used to braid her hair, just the comb, a packet of small hair rubber bands, and some hair gel she had packed just in case. Sighing, she continued combing her hair, using her reflection in the window glass as a mirror.
Percy looked over at Hazel from where he had been staring at the back of the seat in front of him, seemingly lost in thoughts and the memories he was slowly regaining from the Gorgon blood.
“Do you uh,” Percy said as he absentmindedly rubbed the back of his neck, “want help with that?”
Hazel raised an eyebrow at him, highly skeptical the boy knew anything about her hair type, “Do you know how to?”
He smiled lightly and twisted the gray streak of hair in his curls around his pointer finger, “Annabeth.”
---
Percy braids Hazel's hair and have a conversation about the past and their relationships.

Summary
Relaxing back into her seat, Annabeth drops her pen onto the table. "It's fine. Just… call me Annabeth or nothing at all."
Percy's anxiety melts off his face and is replaced with a little grin. "Okay. Annabeth."
She regrets telling Percy her name as soon as he says it. Not because she doesn't want Percy to know her name, but because the way he says it sends so many confusing, conflicting emotions through her, she gets a bit of a headache.
or, Annabeth is a dancer struggling to come up with her choreography for a dance show, Percy is a basketball player who can cook and not dance, and somehow, they both have what the other needs.
