Every head snapped toward the hallway. Dennis felt it instantly. That familiar tightening low in his spine, attention sharpening before he could stop it. Robby’s voice carried differently for him now. Dennis had realized that months ago and very intentionally chose not to examine it too closely. He knew many attendings, but only one could cut through every other sound in the room and reroute Dennis’s entire nervous system.
Jesse leaned against the desk smirking. “Your owner is calling you.”
Or, the ED jokes about Dennis being Robby’s puppy. That makes him feel a lot of things.
