Convergence had been a mess for the ARC. It left them scrambling to explain a lot of things to the world, to account for their role in the almost-apocalypse and in the definite-aversion-of-it, to adjust to declassification—and to recover from the heavy losses they had taken in equipment, resources, and personnel. Some people are struggling more than others.
Jess tries to help them and to not make a fuss over herself. (Becker has a different set of priorities.)
Re: the last scene of the finale (Matt’s little conversation with…himself), there is room for it to have happened in this ’verse, but this fic does not directly acknowledge it.

He brought the dark-lantern to bear and in the sliver of light he’d allowed to shine through, opened the door of the safe.
His heart gave a great jolt, as if it had fallen from the sky directly into Hades.
The safe was empty.
