The driver fell silent for a moment, as if remembering something unpleasant.
“The Yiling Laozu is still driving through this area though. You're a cultivator, right? You dress like one anyway. Then maybe try to reach him. He was one too. Earned his money as a driver though. Died during the earthquake. Now he's haunting the streets. Some say, he messed around with the Burial Mounds and that caused the earthquake! I mean, aren't we unfortunate enough already here in Yiling? What are the chances that a quake hits here of all places?"
(Or: in the aftermath of an earthquake, the Burial Mounds start spreading and the cultivation world turns a blind eye, but Lan Wangji cannot.)

Summary
Lan Wangji is dispatched by his brother to assist Jin Zixun, currently the mayor of a small city and struggling with an apparent haunting in a neighborhood scheduled for redevelopment. He has immediate misgivings but, being a conscientious man, is determined to investigate, and proceeds to uncover something much more than a typical ghost--an old friend, missing for three years and now permanently changed in strange and unsettling ways.

Theodore Nott was dead. At least that was the official ministry declaration. The Nott manor had been found burnt to the ground three months after the fall of Voldemort. The Aurors in charge of the investigation had determined it to be a result of Fiendfyre. Deliberately cast. There was barely anything left, the magic having consumed almost everything. It was assumed it had also consumed Theodore Nott, Draco Malfoy, Blaise Zabini and Pansy Parkinson who had been missing ever since.
Which is why Harry was so confused that the man who had been considered dead for more than three years was sitting right in front of him.

Summary
