Summary
“No one is here now,” Ilya observes, theatrically turning his head left and right and spreading his arms wide. Droplets of water trickle temptingly down the line of his forearms, tracing a stark vein running along his bicep. “Just us.”
“Just us,” Shane echoes, quiet and almost disbelieving.
These days together have melted into one long, sundrenched dream. At any given moment, he half-expects he’ll jolt awake.
-
Or: the day after the 'I love you's, Shane still doesn't quite think this could all be real. A golden afternoon down at the lake helps him believe it. A 1x06 missing scene.

Summary
When Ilya answers, he’s greeted with a whimpered moan that goes straight to his head, leaving him reeling like he’s just thrown back another shot. His mouth drops open, the cigarette dangling stupidly from his lower lip for a second until he plucks it free with his other hand.
Holy fuck. He must be dreaming. But the rough breaths filtering into his ear are too real, tethering him tightly to the moment.
“Jane,” he murmurs, gleeful and shocked. “This is not like you.”
*
Or: after Shane confesses that he can struggle to get off if he's too stressed, Ilya suggests he should just call him next time. He doesn't think Shane would ever be desperate enough to go through with it.

Summary
“Mmm. You want it bad,” Ilya purrs, teeth grazing the column of his throat.
“Yeah,” Shane whines, hating how petulant it sounds. A fresh flare of determination rises up in response. “Just give it to me. Ilya. I can—just go hard. Just make it fit.”
Ilya laughs quietly, incredulously. It’s hot against Shane’s ear. “Make it fit."
-
Or: in the midst of a stressful season, Shane's a little... out of practice. He's not gonna let that stop him getting what he wants.

Summary
He wants to tell Ilya he had stumbled across his talents by accident, looking for some sort of inspiration from an old culinary blog he used to read obsessively. It was by chance that he found countless of wonderful, utterly captivating photos of excellently cooked and plated dishes and one of Chef Rozanov himself. Shane can almost remember the caption of the photo attached, something along the lines of: Best New Talent, there with Ilya’s serious face shaking hands with some old prestigious Chef; it plagued his mind for weeks. He had filled his notebook with observations on Ilya’s delicate craft and handsome face. He thinks there’s probably a I + S, written in a heart somewhere in there because Shane can’t be normal about anything in his life.
