There’s a shock of white-cold something that travels through him when he lays his eyes on Jem for the first time in fifteen years. It moves down his spine and through his chest, coming to an end in the crook of his left elbow, right where the Mark sits.
For a singular moment, he’s twelve again, staring at the mirror image of his Mark and not quite understanding the way his chest tightens. And then their eyes meet, and the cold, cool man in front of him is not the same boy he had met then.
The familiarity is gone. His mouth does not curl up in that helpless smile the same way it had done in summers past.“Lieutenant Reed.”

The further into the room she moves, the harder it is to ignore the way the scent of sex lingers in the room, clinging to dark hair and silk robes.
When she’s standing directly in front of Hoshi, she is presented with a small, stoppered, test tube.
“Take it.”
T’Pol does. Inside is nothing more than one strand of hair.
“What is it?” the Empress prompts, a small smirk playing across her face as she watches T’Pol try to decipher the situation.
