“Speak, Drake. I have no time for your blather.”Tim mentally translated this to ‘I’m listening. Please be direct so I don’t get confused.’ Tim had noticed that Damian often got confused - and therefore angry - when his new packmates made meaningless chatter or talked about something that didn’t have to do with giving instructions. Tim suspected that in the League of Assassins Damian was only spoken to while receiving training or orders and was therefore unsure what to do with any other form of communication. Basically, unless you told Damian very bluntly what you wanted, he got pissed. Sometimes he would get pissed anyway, but at least if you were to the point he wasn’t using that anger as a cover for his confused frustration.

Omega mating glands were actually quite poisonous most of the time. It was nature’s way of protecting an omega against an unwanted mate and it damn well worked. Only an absolute idiot would let their teeth anywhere near an omega’s mating gland unless they were completely serious about earning that omega’s trust because it was only when an omega was completely high off happiness and other endorphins that the mating gland wouldn’t poison an alpha. Some people had tried to come up with a way to chemically trick the omega's body but nobody had ever succeeded. Biting an omega without their extremely enthusiastic consent was a good way to get yourself killed.

Summary
Therein lies the crux of the Buck problem. Eddie’s in love with Buck, he knows it and thinks he has subconsciously known it for a while now. And he thinks that Buck loves him, too, knows that if he didn’t, he wouldn’t be spending every night at Eddie’s home and caring for his son as if he was his own, wouldn’t offer to drive Eddie to and from physical therapy appointments without making it seem like a hassle. But Buck deserves someone who can give him everything he needs, who can have his back all the time, and Eddie knows that he can’t be that person right now.
Because Buck deserves to be completely enveloped in love and affection, and Eddie can’t physically give him that, his constantly aching and useless arm an ever-present reminder. All he has to give is a one-armed hug, a broken mug, and a heart that wants too much that he doesn’t deserve.
