Robby looks amused. “Are you going to protect me from bears?”
“If I have to,” Jack says, which is better than the more inappropriate, if equally true, I would take a bullet for you. “So, is that a yes?”
Robby’s dark eyes dart, briefly, to the floor, then back up to meet Jack's gaze. “Do you really want me there?”
Or: Twelve hours after Robby leaves on his sabbatical, Jack’s phone buzzes with an incoming call. Jack spends the next few weeks bullying Robby into staying in his guest room, then staying in his tent, and then just staying, period.

How Jack and Robby have been in love, they just have to compare panic attacks first, sleep in each others beds, share house keys, and see each other naked. Very conventional like.

Robby stays on his knees by the couch. Dennis walks over to him, towering above him. He finally feels in control of the situation again, the way it was supposed to be when they started this… arrangement or whatever you call it. He pinches Robby’s chin the way he likes doing to Dennis so much, “Go pick out what strap I’m fucking you with.”

Summary
Robby knows it's illogical. Walking into work and seeing Shen at the desk waiting to do a handover with him shouldn't be disappointing. He likes doing the handover with Jack. Beginning his workday with Jack is like downing an energy drink for breakfast; It keeps him going until he can clock out.
Thinking that way when he left Jack sleeping in their bed is why he knows it's illogical.

Robby starts his shift disappointed, and it all goes downhill from there. If you think his day in season 1 was bad, his day is about to get even worse...

“Just a cold,” is what Robby keeps saying about his condition. Just a cold when he’s coughing into his fist, just a cold when he’s coughing into his elbow, just a cold when he’s showing no other symptoms of a cold whatsoever. Just a cold when he starts carrying tissues in his pocket to cough into whenever he needs it, which is often.
And the kicker is that he thinks Jack doesn’t notice.
