Summary
“Oh, uh, hi.” Leaf blinks at Red and the stranger on her doorstep. “Who’s your friend?”
“You the new drummer, huh?” Blue puffs, folding his arms. “You’re scrawny.”
And then, he pushes inside like he happens to know the first thing about where Leaf’s room is and how her parents might react to seeing a boy they’ve never met before waltz through their house. Bulbasaur bounds after him, looking excited, leaving Red and Leaf to stare at each other.
“That’s Blue,” Red answers, several seconds too late. “We play together. We… want you to join us.”

Summary
His husband had to swallow around the lump in his throat, before his trembling voice whispered, "That past versions of us did tag along on our journey here, after all. We were so young, in this picture... Do you think they'd be proud of how far we've come now, Red?"
What a silly question.
The answer was spelled right across them, in the tall mirror: a juxtaposition of their past and present, highlighting how the qualities that made their youth shine was now a burning star glowing from within each of their aged faces.
Or: when Blue was called to help Sycamore's Pokémon Research Lab create better policies for Lumiose City's newly-established Wild Zones, he and Red ended up finding a treasure they once thought was lost buried among their winter gear.
This is a loose sequel to "it's always you" that can also be read as standalone fanfic.

“I won!” he repeats, thrusting an arm. His point stops like a weapon at Red’s forehead, and he grins at how effective it is at making him freeze. “Looks like I was too good for you, after all. Don’t take it too hard. Between us, I was always the Pokémon genius.”
Blue beats Red at Indigo Plateau, becoming the undefeated Champion of Kanto.
