After dying at Ashford Meadow, Baelor Breakspear should have remained in the grave.
Instead, he wakes in a forest clearing in modern-day Sweden on the day of Midsummer, far from his realm, far from his century, and impossibly alive. There, he is found by Vinga: a woman of the modern world whose life is about to become bound to his in ways neither of them yet understands.

The Light That Returned is a long-form, long-running story of resurrection, fate, prophecy, love, myth, magic, and second chances—a rewrite of both the Dunk and Egg era and Game of Thrones, where old tragedies are not the final word, and the light may yet return to a realm that has forgotten what saved it once before.
Featuring Baelor, Vinga, and, in time, characters from across the wider Targaryen and Game of Thrones canon (because yes, I am still salty about that ending).

Baelor sighed, a frustrated puff of air in the quiet room. "Couldn't you—" he stopped, wrinkling his nose. "Couldn't you... dampen your scent for a bit?"
"My scent is dampened," Maekar's voice rumbled from behind him, flat and annoyed.
"Dampened? Because it hardly feels that way. It is rather difficult to sleep when the whole room feels as though it has been left over a boiling pot.”
Maekar let out an exasperated groan. Baelor heard a sharp slap of skin, as if a hand had just been slapped against a face. "Fuck me," Maekar muttered into the darkness. “Just get used to it. How in the Seven Hells do you expect to become accustomed to my scent if you avoid it?” He shifted beneath the blankets. “And this is barely anything. I swear, Baelor, I think you’re trying to annoy the hell out of me at this point. Don’t think I haven’t noticed you’re not sleeping with my shirt beside you, either.”Where the head wound triggers a process that slowly transforms Baelor from an Alpha into an Omega.

The maesters were still there, their faces pale, their eyes wide and fixed on his body in a way that made his skin crawl. He tried to ask what was wrong, what they saw. "My prince, you must remain calm," Maester Cressen said, his voice overly steady, a brittle facade of control. "We will explain everything later. Just rest."
Panic, cold and sharp, cut through the pain and confusion. He began to struggle, using his hands to weakly push them away. "No... tell me," he rasped, his voice a dry scrape. With a surge of adrenaline he didn't know he possessed, he managed to push himself up onto his elbows, his vision swimming into focus. And then he saw.His breath caught in his throat, a strangled sound of disbelief.
Where Baelor finds out that the wound to his head has triggered an internal process of bitching, slowly transforming him from an Alpha into an Omega.
And, much to Baelor’s confusion and dismay, Maekar begins to look particularly attractive. -
