If you end up homeless, Geralt will get mopey, and neither of us need that on our hands.” She counted them off on her fingers.
Jaskier was pretty sure that she was forgetting the part where him moving in would enable her to complete the plan she had very clearly concocted where she was going to poison him and wear a stunning black number to the funeral, hiding her smirk behind running mascara and fake tears.
Jaskier made a sound that was supposed to be indigent, but came out as more of a squeak than anything else, “And I don’t have a say in this?”

Or, after Geralt points out Yennefer has a spare room in her apartment, Jaskier moves in with her. He's so busy worrying about being posioned, he doesn't spare a thought to what he should actually be worried about: falling in love.

“You’re going to leave,” the words are pulled from his lips without his permission, and they sit heavy in the space between them. Because of course, Jaskier is. Jaskier has seen what Geralt is, the story Geralt is doomed to repeat. Jaskier has spent the past few years convincing the world that it is wrong – that Geralt is a hero and not a monster. Today though, he saw it. Today he saw that he is the one who is wrong and that the world had it right all along.
He was going to leave because Geralt couldn’t save her.
He was going to leave because one day, maybe, Geralt wouldn’t be able to save him.
Except-
Except that there is a hand cupping his jaw, gentle, soft. There is a thumb brushing across his cheekbone. “Never,” Jaskier breathes. A promise. “It wasn’t your fault.”

“Are you going to join me?” He asked.
“No,” she responded, and instead she conjured a stool and took a seat behind him. “Tip your head back – without the dramatics, if you please. I have no use for them.”
A flicker of something real crossed his face, “Yennefer, you don’t have to—”
“I want to,” she cut him off, “head back,” her fingers moved to gently lay against his cheeks to guide him just so. She brought her own oils to hand, the scent of lilac thickening the room as she removed the cork and began massaging it into his wet hair.
Funny, wasn’t it? How tenderness, gentleness, could, in the end, prove more liable to shatter than violence? She could see the beginnings of it bleeding onto his face, his emotions catching up with him as she helped him wash.

Jaskier felt his frown deepen, “Yeah, for a walk…not for good, Geralt.”
“Well, how was I supposed to know that?” Geralt growls, looking a bit like a trapped animal, eyes flashing angry and frustrated and hurt all at once.
Jaskier stares at him because honestly? It would have been less surprising for Geralt to grow two heads. How was Geralt supposed to know that? How couldn’t he know that? It was as if he’d never done this before.
Holy shit. It was as if he’d never done this before.

After a small fight, Geralt assumes that their relationship is over. Jaskier introduces him to the world of adult relationships where just because you might storm out, doesn't mean you're not always going to come back.

Behind him, there was a slight stirring, “Hmm, Geralt?”
Geralt went still.
“What you doin’?” Jaskier mumbled, clearly still half asleep. When Geralt dared to glance over, he could see the barest crack Jaskier had opened his eyes, searching blearily for Geralt’s form in the darkness. Human as his eyes were, Geralt was likely nothing but a shadow to him.
“I—” Geralt began to explain, but then realised he had no fucking clue how to answer that question in a way that wouldn’t sound pathetic as fuck. What are you doing? Counting your breaths so I don’t have to imagine a knife drawing blood from your throat. Contemplating your morality. Protecting you from nothing because apparently, you’ve gone and made me care for you, you bastard.

Or, After a dangerous encounter with a group of Bandits, Geralt realises how much Jaskier means to him. It's terrifying. (But Jaskier is there to help ease the fear).

Anyway,” he let his eyes drift closed as he spoke, “there are tales, to the east, about all these little strings that tie us together. Red strings of fate, they’re called. The strings can stretch and tangle over thousands and thousands of miles, but they’ll never ever break, and they’ll always pull you right back where you belong, close to one another.”
