Summary
The guard pointed her gun, aimed, and fired.
Peter made a choked noise. Tony’s head snapped down to look at him, heart jolting in dread at the dart lodged in Peter’s neck.
Peter sleepily turned his head Tony’s way, eyelids drooping closed yet his expression remained pained and confused.
Tony turned back to the guard, seething.
”You must be out of your damn mind-“
She shot again. Tony’s mouth parted in horror as he stared at the second dart lodged in Peter’s shoulder.
”Pete...”
Peter’s breaths evened out before his eyes rolled to the back of his head and he was collapsing to the ground in a mess of limbs, entire body weighing three times more than it should.
Tony slowly, venomously turned his head back to the guard, his expression dark.
”For that, Rhodey is gonna kill you first.”

Summary
Tony turned over his shoulder in dread as Bruce heaved and gasped on the floor, his skin already growing a sickly green color. Tony's mouth went dry and his heart dropped to his stomach, instinctively standing in front of Peter with his arms out protectively.
"Pete, you said you had your nanotech?"
"Always."
"...Good. Cause I got nothin'."
Peter tapped the screen of his watch and allowed his suit to materialize around himself, stepping around Tony so that he was the one protecting rather than the one being protected.
"Kid, no."
"No offense, Mister Stark...but what're you gonna do to protect me from the literal Hulk?"
Tony clenched his jaw and said nothing.

steve, tony, and peter are literally snorting crack and have no idea what to do after bruce is poisoned and turns into the hulk

He rolled his eyes with a groan.
That is, until two suspicious men followed them out shortly after, definitely armed.
Tony paled instantly and found himself shooting to his feet in a heartbeat, said heartbeat leaping up to his throat.

Summary
He’d seen this before. His mind had played tricks on him like this in the past, had led him to believe that he was looking at Peter Parker, who was supposed to be dead, when in reality it was just another white, curly-haired teenager. He knew, logically, he needed to turn around and let this go.
He needed to let Peter go. To move on.
But then the kid in question lifted his head ever-so-slightly, his ears peeking out of his extremely outgrown curls, and Tony hiccuped a mini heart attack.
That was his kid.

The confession burned and ached and stung all over, bringing with it an entirely new wave of grief that paralyzed him and rendered him more broken yet more whole than ever before.
Because Tony had spent so many years pushing that feeling away. It was so strong, so powerful that it had the ability to stop his heart and take his life.
For Pepper and for Morgan both, he had been suppressing that feeling for longer than he wished to acknowledge.
He told himself he didn’t miss Peter. He told himself that their relationship wasn’t what he remembered it to be. He told himself that Peter hadn’t needed Tony as much as Tony needed Peter.
...And thank god not one word of that was true.

Peter’s eyes went wide as Tony gripped him by the shoulders, foreheads nearly touching as the strength of Tony’s hold had Peter barely dangling above the ground.
Peter’s gaze hardened. He squirmed out of Tony’s hold, stumbling back on his feet and stiffening his posture.
”Well, you did that just fine on your own.”
