“Easy there. Are you okay?” Major Kaidan Alenko asked with concern. His features slowly melted into recognition as he realized who he held in his hands. A slow smile spread across his face as he asked, “Reese?”
She blinked back her surprise and tried to compose herself. No sense in letting him see the deep scars she still carried from back then…
“Major,” she replied with a tight smile, refusing to use his name.Kora Reese had been just a LTJG when the Normandy was destroyed by the Collectors. The crew scattered to the winds after their triumph over the Geth and Saren. Their commanding officer declared dead by the Alliance. That short tour of duty aboard the SR1 had changed her life in so many ways. Meeting Kaidan Alenko had changed her life in so many ways. Now nearly three years and a heartbreak later, they cross paths again. Afraid of what that could mean, Reese must make a choice: continue to ignore what her heart wants or try again.

Summary
A series of prompts that feature Kaidan Alenko and Kora Reese through the course of their lives leading up to and including the events of Mass Effect 3.
For N7 month 2020, I've decided to feature parts of Kaidan and Kori's story not directly addressed by Messages or Broken Road. These prompts will take place during both stories but also feature moments in their pasts. I hope these prompts help flesh out their characters, their relationship, and what important events from their pasts helped to shape them into the people they are during ME3. Plus I just want an excuse to write them more ;)

Summary
Kaidan Alenko's journey told through snippets from his childhood to his fateful posting on the Normandy. Biotics. Overcoming adversity. And finding your own way.

The younger Alenko looked dejectedly at his beer. “I’m not sure that makes me feel any better.”
Gavin Alenko took a swig of his own beer. “It wasn’t meant to. But it’s something to remember next time.”
Kaidan griped his right side where he’d been injured. It still ached a month later. “Not sure about a ‘next time.’ I messed this one up pretty bad.”
His father gave him that knowing smile. “Son, if there’s one thing I’d put money on, it’s that you’ll have a next time. And it’ll be bigger than you can imagine.”
The engines of an Alliance ship roared overhead, traveling towards the spaceport. Kaidan glanced up to watch it’s retreating silhouette. “I hope you’re right, Dad.”Series

Summary
As best friends Kaidan and Kori have never paid any attention to the assumptions others made about their relationship. As the Reapers continue their assault on all sentient species galaxy wide, their bond only grows stronger. Joker’s suggestion of a party while on shore leave gives the Normandy crew a much needed reprieve from the front lines but also provides unexpected opportunities. Will friendship finally blossom into something more or will the night turn into one big disaster for two best friends?
