Summary
And then he’d met Dean Winchester. And maybe met is too weak a word. He’d raised Dean Winchester from the infernos of damnation and painstakingly rearranged every atom in his body to it’s perfect form.
But that wasn’t what changed him. It was watching Dean. Watching him choose others over and over, watching him selflessly defend the world, watching him refuse to be controlled by the whims of those in power.
That’s what taught Cas to feel.

Summary
Visions filled his mind. Of Cas in the Empty, all alone, just laying in the dark without his family. He tried to push them back. But he couldn’t. His mind was just, Cas, Cas, Cas. His hands tightened on the sides of his head and he covered his ears as if he could block out his thoughts that way.
After a minute, his mind started to rewind. Slowly at first, taking him back to a few days ago. But before he could dive into that memory his memories flipped all the way back to eleven years ago. It was like he didn’t have control over his mind. Like some cosmic entity was manipulating his thoughts, making him relive it all.

Summary
“I want to know why you chose them,” Cas said petulantly.
Dean turned onto the highway and glanced at Cas. “I told you.. They’re just the best Zepp songs.”
Cas just stared at him. And Dean stared right back. The angel wasn’t winning this one. Because if he started talking, it would all become too obvious.
As if giving him a damn mixtape wasn’t already obvious, he thought. He looked away. Not because he was letting Cas win, but because he hadn’t looked at the road in a while and getting in a car crash wasn’t in the cards for today.
“I don’t know what you want me to tell you, man.”
“What about this one?” Cas asked, and Dean stopped to listen to the music. It had been Cas’ idea to listen to the mixtape, and after getting over his shock that Cas still had it, he agreed. He loved Zeppelin, what could go wrong?

Summary
“Um…it’s the women, Father. Where do I begin?” Dean started nervously. This was stupid. Part of him was convinced Sam was doing this just to watch him suffer and laugh, because there were a million other ways they could take care of this ghost. But, whatever.
“Bless me, Father, for I have sinned, is usual,” Father Delaney said from the other booth. Right. There were procedures and policies. God, he couldn’t even remember the last time he’d been in a church when it wasn’t a job. They used to go as a family… before Mary-
Before their mom died. But after that John had given up. There was nothing at church for them.
“Right. Good. Yeah. So, that,” Dean muttered. Why was this so hard? It wasn’t like he had to lie. “And, um…so the women. Uh, and this is not something that I’m proud of, but I let them think that we have more of a future than we do, you know? Ah, Gina.” He’d never known a Gina. Why was that what he went with? Why did his mind jump to-
No. He couldn’t think about that now. Not here.
“Gina?”

Summary
Cas had softly opened the door as usual, crossed the room quickly and laid a hand on his forehead. Everything had been so easy between them since Purgatory, even with all the pain swirling through the halls of the Bunker. He’d whispered a few soft words and smoothed back Dean’s sweat slicked hair.
It was then that Dean woke up, the feeling of a blade still heavy in his hand. Cas whispered to him softly, bringing him back to his room, far away from the torments of that place. Something had been different in the air though. It was so sweet between them, so open, that Dean hadn’t even hesitated before scooting over and making room for Cas on the bed.
As soon as the angel was settled, he snuggled into him, wrapping his entire body around him. They didn’t normally get this close. It was easier to pretend it was platonic otherwise.
After some time, Dean whispered, “Thanks, Cas.”

Summary
Waves crashed loudly on the shore outside. It was interesting, beautiful even, that each one sounded different. Each hit the shore in its own time before receding back to the wide expanse of the sea. But they always came back.
The smell of salt was heavy in the air and a slight breeze blew through the window, rustling the heavy cream curtains. The sun was just starting to peak over the horizon, but it hadn’t yet climbed high enough to send light cascading over their bed.
Dean kept his eyes shut. There was no reason to be awake yet. No reason to ruin this perfect peace, every muscle relaxed and breaths coming free and easy. And there was no reason to disturb his husband.
Even with his eyes closed, a soft smile slipped across his face.
Husband.
Castiel, angel of the Lord, was married to him.
