“Okay, head up, let’s get to work.” He began pulling the book out from underneath her and her head snapped up in a moment.
“What?”
“I got A’s in my algebra classes, it's not like I have anything to do. And I’m pretty sure you’re gonna have some sort of problem if you drink any more coffee.”

Summary
Ahsoka popped the hood with a little too much force to release the light grey clouds of smoke beginning to block her airway. A voice shouted over the noise of her car and her sudden coughing. “Hey, you okay?” A man’s voice asked as she stepped away from her car.
Ahsoka aimed her voice in his general direction. “Apparently not, wise guy.”
“Let me see if I can help.” His too-tall figure came into view as he assisted in swatting away the smoke.
Ahsoka stood back to watch him fiddle around with some mechanical component. “You sure you know what you’re doing? Because if you’re just trying to be some masculine hero-figure, I’ll have you know I took mechanics courses in high school for situations like this.” She crossed her arms in retort.
The man chuckled. “Well, I happen to be a licensed mechanic, so I think I’m good.”
“Oh,” She responded, a blush creeping it’s way onto her cheeks. “That’s good.”

“Why would I tell you where I live?” Ahsoka barked. “That’s just stupid. And besides, I’m home alone anyway.”
Rex continued keeping stride with her despite his extra height on her. “Why are you home alone?” She realized her dumb decision to say that the moment Rex opened his mouth.
“Because.”
“But why?”
“‘Cause aunt Kat works on school days.”
Rex looked down at her as if the thought of her having an aunt and not a mom was weird, but she didn’t catch it. “When will she be home?”
For some reason, against anything her aunt had ever told her about strangers, Ahsoka kept talking. Rex sounded like he cared. And not many people cared these days.

"Fine," She replied. He didn't seem convinced but she couldn't stop right now. "Just prepping for the morning rush."

Her head breached the water. Hands slid in front of her, thrusting her shoulders forward. Ahsoka was careful to keep her feet a steady eighteen inches from the surface at all times, absolutely refusing to have a DQ this early on.
Flipturn. 25 meters done.
Same process. Hands to her chest, head rising above the water, shoulders thrusting forward, feet following hands.
Flipturn. 50 meters done.
Her goggles were getting hazy. The last thing she needed was not being able to see, but she pushed on. The wall entered her limited field of vision.
Flipturn. 75 meters done.
Somebody reached the wall a few moments after her, head surfacing and Ahsoka catching a glimpse of someone’s feet splashing beneath the water. At the very least, she knew she wasn’t in last quite yet. The flags passed over hear head. Three, meters, two, one-
Her hands smacked the wall.

Summary
Rex doesn’t know a lot about her, if you asked, but he knows so much in his own little ways. If he had any artistic ability he could draw every curve of her face and the shape of the scars on her cheeks, forehead, and neck. They’re long healed and the scar tissue there is really only a raised, light color, barely a scar, but it’s so beautiful to know. She has her box braids weaved into two larger plaits most days, but when she wears sweatpants and comes in with coffee (usually after a failed attempt at an all nighter), they’re put into a bun on the top of her head. Her laugh is long and loud, and sometimes she snorts when trying to keep it in, which is all the cuter.
Something about her sticks to him. He doesn’t know why, but nor does he try to stop it.
Rex and Ahsoka, finding out that love is just as comfortable as it looks.

Ahsoka wonders what he’d do if that happened. If an old man caught sight of her in her low cut prom dress and sparkly makeup and grinned at her like a piece of meat. She knows he has a military background, remembers when he came back last year, she’s sure the man wouldn’t ever look at anyone again if Fox knew.
She can’t tell him about Lux. He wouldn’t have hands to touch her after Fox found out.
