Summary
“This is Hell,” he says, just to hear the words out loud, to convince himself of the fact.
“Tell me about it,” says the woman in front of him, readjusting the square glasses on her nose. “I’ve been here since this morning and it doesn’t look like we’ve made any progress at all. Bad customer service,” she adds, shaking her head. “The management will hear about this.”

Summary
Claire smiles, and she does her best to ignore the hilt of the knife poking into her bum. Today, she is mostly normal. Not an orphan, and not someone who walks around with knives and books about demonology. Normal.

Summary
When Castiel sees the boy in the distance, he both sees him and doesn’t see him. His human eyes, Jimmy’s eyes, see the still blurred silhouette (faded jeans, a dark green hoodie, a mop of dark hair ruffled by the wind) and his Grace, his true self, perceives everything else (the colour of the boy’s unusual soul, the sheer power coming off him in red/loud waves) - and still, it doesn’t matter.
Run, says the man’s voice inside his head (a sudden stab, a sharp detail appears and disappears inside his mind - green eyes, looking at him, then down), and Castiel keeps running.

Summary
“Well, I’m happy to see you,” says Dean in the end, his eyes dropping to one side, and he licks his lips, a nervous gesture.
“I am not. Happy to see you,” replies Cas, and his voice has moved beyond broken glass and sandpaper; it now speaks of storms and rusty knives in long-forgotten scabbards; it is eerie, unsettling, and, above all, completely indifferent.
I don’t serve Man, and I certainly don’t serve you, is what Dean hears, and it goes directly through his guts like a skinning knife.

Summary
Sam hadn’t been able to attend her funeral. He just hadn’t. Once they had been back in the car, Dean had hesitated before turning the engine on, had drummed his fingers, once, twice, on the wheel, before looking to his right, to the crumpled mess of tears and desperation that was his little brother, before offering to stick around. Just long enough to bring flowers, or something.
When he’d thought about it later, Sam had come to recognize this gesture as a truly selfless suggestion (Dean hated graves, saw no point in visiting them), had been grateful to his brother for it. It still hadn’t mattered, though. After Jess had died, Sam had been too angry and thirsty for revenge to mourn her properly. After shooting Madison, though, he’d finally understood why his brother drank as much as he did.

Summary
“And what if - if they want to know about girls?” Sam had finally asked, when Dean had started to fidget.
He still remembers it - how his own voice had dropped down to a mortified whisper, and the small, inevitable snort of laughter that Dean, to his credit, had immediately stifled.
“What about them?”
“Never mind.”

Summary
“You’ll turn your back on – on Hell, for what? For one sweet night with me?”
He opens his eyes again, and sees she’s edged even closer, and there’s a look in her eyes – a look – Dean has seen it many times before, but –
His thoughts stray again, and now he’s in Bobby’s safe room, two feet of solid iron around him, and Cas is on the threshold, and he looks downright murderous for a second, but then something shift in his eyes, around his mouth, and next –
“Stay with me, Dean,” says the demon, and her hand goes lower, traces the shorter hair on the nape of his neck, making him shiver, tremble with pleasure. “I want you. That’s my price.”

Summary
“You are human. For you, everything happened yesterday. Like your wolf girl, you have no sense of past and future because a human life is so very short. But I - I am eternity itself, Sam, and I have been waiting for you.”
“I -”
Sam opens his mouth and closes it again.
“I always knew you were going to be mine, ahuvi. And now you are.”

Summary
“You thought Sammy’s role in this farce was over? Please. Your brother is now more important than he ever was.”
And this – this is too much. Dean snaps out of it, pushes down the familiar feeling of unworthiness, his desperate desire for death and quiet, he swallows it all back like bile – because this prick is not about to threaten Sam, not after bloody everything –
“You keep your hands off my brother,” he growls, but Gabriel just laughs.
“Like you’re keeping your hands off mine?” he says.

Summary
Because Dean has spent his whole life fighting, and he knows losing odds when he sees them. Still, he has no time to wonder why Cas is not using his full powers; he has no time to allow the half-formed thought to take shape in his head (this quiet admission that this, right here, is the most amazing thing he’s ever seen in his life, the most amazing thing he will ever see in his life, and that he wants, more than anything, to see Cas’ true face, because the angel is looking away from him, and Dean can’t -); and he has no time to stand up and fight with Cas. No, all of that is only beginning to come into existence when Dean hears Cas’ true voice, and this time it is not an unbearably loud noise, pressing against his face and nose and ears - this time it is sea currents and music -

Summary
Dean is unable to move, or to look away, as Cas walks up to him and raises his hand to Dean’s chest, splays his fingers open over Dean’s heart; the warmth of his skin seems to burn through Dean’s tee-shirt, but Dean can’t move away, can’t even breathe -
“I don’t need you to tell me,” says Cas, “because I know already. And my love for you is enough, now and forever - enough for the both of us. Whatever you can give - that is what I’ll have.”

“We’ll try it your way, but this is temporary, so. Behave, alright?”
“When do I ever not behave? I am the politestest person you know.”
“Right. Well, you hurt him, I kill you. Just so that it’s clear.”
Crowley smiles at him again, looks almost fond.
“I think you mean, you’ll try,” he says, and Dean punches him.

Summary
“I wish I could see it,” she says, softly. “I spent too many years on the Force to believe in absolute evil, and - I don’t know, it seems that, even in this Void, there should be -”
“Beauty?” suggests Crowley, keeping his eyes on the dark horizon in front of him.
“Salvation,” she says.

Summary
There are words spoken to him now - praise and promises. Leif had heard stories of Loki Laufeyson, had learned to be wary of him, because he was both kin and enemy of the All-Father, and could not be trusted. But the stories had never mentioned how glorious Loki was. How sweet his voice, how direct his gaze. Leif had run away that first time - he’d turned back, once, had seen the man still standing there, still looking at him, a smile on his handsome face - but the second time - the second time he’d allowed himself to be caught. And the third, he hadn’t even fought back.
How can you resist a god?
