Summary
Everyone knew that Steve Rogers hated Bucky Barnes.
It’s not that Bucky'd said anything or even done anything, but that was exactly the problem. He'd done nothing and said nothing. He'd stood by. So, Steve hated him. Really, it was to protect himself. If he stayed away from the people destined to make his life a living hell, his life would continue as smoothly as possible. He already had everyone he needed.

Summary
The last hour of his shift was both agonizingly slow and astonishingly fast. Twice, Natasha yelled at him to prevent him from putting the wrong liquor in drinks. It was a relief when Valkyrie clocked in and took over. With only fifteen minutes left, Steve really let himself think about Brock’s proposition.
Steve could go home. He should go home. He was in no state for anything else and he’d gotten out for a good reason. His back had never really healed. He could go home and curl up on the couch with good food and better company and allow himself to finally let down his guard. Payday was next week and he’d finally have enough for his rent and the rest of his loan payment.
But then the cycle would start again. All it took was one win to give him some cushion. (All it took was one wrong hit to make everything worse.) If he won he’d be that much closer to moving in for real. He’d be that much closer to marrying Bucky and their life starting for real. No more halfway. No more back and forth. Just them.
But would Bucky even want to marry him anymore if he knew?

Summary
Steve peeked up at Bucky and hid his face again. “What would you say if I said I gave my two weeks?”
Bucky would be elated. He’d pull out the bottle of sparkling wine his parents had given them ages ago, and they’d celebrate because it would mean that Steve was finally putting himself first and trusting that Bucky would catch him. But it would also mean Steve had truly reached his breaking point.
“I’d say we’d figure something out. You know my goal is to officially live together before we’re eighty.”
“Ask me,” Steve said so softly Bucky almost thought he made it up. “Ask me to move in.”

Summary
Steve was only pulled from his perusal of the sketchbook by Bucky plopping into his lap, wrapping his legs around his waist. “No more today.”
“I thought you wanted me moved in.”
“And you are. Let me enjoy the first afternoon I officially live with my fiancé. Please.” He stuck his bottom lip out and batted his eyelashes. Steve was quickly learning he was unable to deny Bucky anything when he did that.
“Fine.” Steve dropped the sketchbook back in the box. Bucky shoved it away with his foot. Steve snorted, but then Bucky’s lips were against his, and the sun was warm as it streamed through the window, and he was happy.

Summary
Becca conveyed the message. There was laughter in the background. “So, what can I do for you?”
“I’m pretty sure he has the flu,” he said. “Normally, I’d make my ma’s chicken noodle, but I know how much he looks forward to Hanukkah and the food, and no matter how hard I try, he always kicks me out of the kitchen—”
“Just say you have no idea what you’re doing when it comes to Jewish cuisine,” Becca said.

Summary
Me [1:34 pm]: I’m holding you to that, Buck. Screws after dinner. If Dugan kidnaps you, you can tell him I’ll have to find other ways to occupy myself
He set his phone back on the table and continued to work. A light knock on the door drew his attention, though he didn’t look up. If he didn’t finish writing his idea, he’d lose it forever.
“I’m sorry,” he said as he wrote, frowning. He hadn’t been aware he’d unlocked the door when he’d let himself in. “But I’m not open. If you want to buy, you’ll have to go to the website or wait for normal business hours.”
“I was hoping to speak to you, actually.”Or, the one where Joseph Rogers tries to walk back into Steve's life.

Summary
“You know I don’t normally do couples therapy.”
“I know,” Steve said. He looked at Bucky, who stared at the ground. They hadn’t spoken since returning from Albany. He spun the ring on his finger. His ma’s ring. Steve buried the fresh wave of guilt and grief. “But I trust you.”
“What I’m going to have you do is talk to each other,” Dr. Scheinbaum said. She looked at them both. “I’m here to mediate if needed, but the work needs to be done by you. It’s up to you to decide if and how your relationship moves forward. So, my first question to you is this: do you want it to?”
