The blush forming on Niall’s cheeks was more obvious in the winter chill, his skin just a few shades darker than the snow surrounding them. “Every time I open my mouth around you I feel like I’m about to say something stupid. It’s like your words and just being with you make me dizzy. Dizzy because you make me feel weak in the best way possible. And thanks by the way, for saying all those nice things about me. You always make me feel better.” Like home.
And that’s when Niall realized it. He didn’t need to go back to Ireland to feel like he was home. Because home isn’t always a physical place, but it can also be a person. And here, Harry was that person. So maybe all he needed when he was missing Ireland would be to find Harry. It felt like this big revelation all of a sudden.

Summary
Niall goes for a second, even a third helping and signals his approval. Harry did good. But what was that aftertaste? It was a stronger element that awoke his taste buds. Maybe onion? He was just about to dip his spoon in for a fourth time when he realized something. His tongue was tingling and his eyes began to water. He thought he imagined his throat becoming dry and tries to clear it.
He latches one of his hands on the countertop for support as the other flies to his throat. He could barely swallow and the clatter of the spoon onto the floor hardly registers in his mind. Niall tries to take deep breaths and instead finds himself floundering, failing to draw breath properly. What was happening?
The sensation of his throat closing up intensifies as does the sudden clouding of his vision. He swears he sees a few dark spots float in front of his line of vision and begins to panic. He’s having an allergic reaction. His mind races to the pot and he briefly looks in the direction of the stove.

Summary
Niall’s eyes scrunch up before he opens them enough to see. He angles the brush so that it’s pointing at his cuticle and is so careful to apply a thin and even first coat. He sits back to admire his work and smiles because: why didn’t he do this sooner? The excitement bubbles in his stomach and he thinks he shouldn’t be this happy to paint his nails.
He feels immensely more confident and the notion that it’s coming from a small bottle seems silly but he doesn’t care. His cheeks hurt from the smile that he can’t wipe off of his face. Was this how Harry felt when he first became into beauty and painting his nails? Did he feel this sense of giddiness from the prospect of launching a business and creating a brand that would replicate his wonderful experience to others?
The top coat has finally dried and he moves to securely close the five bottles when a mess of limbs surpass him in a blur and lands startlingly in front of him. “Me next!” Harry is holding out his hands mere inches from Niall’s face and his smile radiates so clearly. If his lips stretch anymore across his face Niall is scared that his face will split in two and his dimples will disappear.

Harry: Now tell me what you thought of the picture once you cropped the others out.
And Harry knows he’s caught Niall red-handed. He knows about the folder his boyfriend has in his camera roll titled with his name. Pictures that he’s seen on Instagram or Twitter and saves to his phone, cropping them if others are in them.
It’s like when you dog-ear the corner of a page, folding it into the book so you can bookmark where you are for the next time you open it. The pictures are favorites, like treasure troves meant only for Niall’s viewing. And Harry knows this because he has his own folder of Niall in his camera roll. Endless images where he looks good. So handsome and sexy; a little secret tucked in the depths of his phone.
And yeah, they were both a little cheesy, and a lot crazy about each other. This photo would just be another scope added to the growing mass; the latest find, but surely not the last. This was Harry’s favorite game between them. Exchanging favorite pics of the other and then explaining why they loved it so much.

It's been three years. Over that actually. Niall needs to keep reminding himself. He has a girlfriend he's finally happy with, in love with. He's written an entire album about her and not him. Yet the nagging feeling in the back of his mind is a constant reminder that he wants to forget. A part of his past he wishes he could erase more than anything.
The first mistake was letting Harry kiss him after the hiatus, when he went to his concert in 2017. His second mistake was letting him into his heart. He overtook every fiber of his being and consumed all of his thoughts. Harry had that effect on people. Niall also knew he wouldn't be the first or last to fall victim to those piercing green eyes or the soft and unruly brown curls that rested on the top of his head like a crown.
