Summary
"Cody laughed and clapped his brother on his back. “But, no, nothing yet but it’s only been three days,” he said, and Logan grumbled then stood. He stretched his stiff legs and back, felt a pop along his spine, relaxed, and returned the polite wave to the jogger that huffed past them on the sidewalk beyond the yard. “You know… we should go to the mall,” there was a grin in Cody’s words that Logan didn’t need to see to know was there."

Summary
"He took her in, arms crossed, eyes wandering the sky as she rotated in place, watching a Cessna on the downwind portion of the airports traffic pattern. There was beauty in her bravery, in her hot-headed determination, and in her loyalty. Gan didn’t have to go to Fargo, Logan knew this, but Gan had given Felicity her word and she was hellbent on keeping it. Gan met his eyes and he blushed, caught staring, and he extended a hand despite the burning of his ears."

Summary
He ran for her even though he knew, despite the encumbrance of the rain, that he wouldn’t make it to her on time. One of the men snatched her by the hair and she screamed, angry and frightened, as she fell, hard, onto the wet pavement. She fought against her attacker and Logan was less than five feet from them when another man cut him off. Logan stopped and assessed the man before him. No tears. Not Motherless. No Curse-Breaker. Who was he? How did they know Gan? Did they know Gan?

Summary
Isaac took a seat and looked out the large windows of the café. A plow ran down the road, pushing gray snow and slush out of the street, as snow fell in lazy drifts from the gloomy overcast sky. It hardly felt like Christmas was just three, short, weeks away. Despite all of the decorations, the murmur of cheerful music and the uncharacteristic joy of his boys, he still felt somber. Maybe Mildred was right. Maybe he did need a change of pace.

Summary
Gan had only been to the Garriford home once and that had been several months ago. It was a quaint house, located off the main road, down a quiet street and nearly a mile from the nearest bus stop. She knew Cody well enough, and vice versa, that he wouldn’t have asked her to do this with the threat of the winter storm at her back given the time it had taken her to get here. Nearly an hour and a half between waiting for buses and transferring train lines. Her concern now reflected his. What if something really was wrong? She would risk getting snowed in if it meant making sure Logan was okay.

Summary
It had been a while since Logan and his brother had gone on a run together. The crisp winter morning was perfect for an outing like this and Logan was anxious to get out and do something different for a change. The last few weeks had been spent running on treadmills, inhaling the pungent aroma of the gym, and longing for fresh air and sunshine. He didn’t care that it was still cold, the temperature was in the single negative digits today, and he needed to run.
Reading "Flu Season" is recommended for this work.
