When he is experiencing a state of anxiety, stress, or fear, or when he absorbs the “fear energy” of the people around him, Hikaru’s quirk strengthens his “fight or flight” response to enhance his physical and mental capabilities. He can also apply this enhancement to others at a lower level of effectiveness than himself.His quirk has a third aspect called “Freeze.” When he has enough “fear energy” built up from himself or others, in order to regulate the strain this puts on himself, he can release a scream that sends the fear energy to one or more targets, eliciting a “freeze response” in them to varying extents. The target is frozen in terror, and they may experience fear-induced reduction in hearing or vision, psychosomatic effects, or even hallucinations.
