Karl winced, grimacing at his journal and pulling his hands away, only adding to the tension in the air. Sapnap remembered a time when Karl would cling to him at every opportunity, giggling with a mischievous glint in his eyes.
Now all he could see were the bags under Karl’s eyes, and the cloud of anxiety that followed him like his own shadow. “Look, I can’t tell you what I’m doing, but it’s important, and I need to see it through. When I’m done, we can hang out every day, okay? But if I don’t focus on this, bad things will happen. So just—- leave me alone for now, okay? Go hang out with your ‘Quackity’, whoever that is.”
Sapnap blew out a breath, shock freezing him in place. He couldn’t begin to unpack everything Karl was saying, not when Karl didn’t trust him with his ‘work’. “What do you mean, ‘whoever that is’? He’s our fiancé!”
“He’s—- what? I don’t remember that.” It was almost funny, how white Karl’s face became when he realized Sapnap was serious. It would’ve been, in any other situation.

Techno blinked, glancing down at his hands. Niki was right: they were covered in stone and emerald dust from his crafting adventures. It was on his clothes, too, and he grimaced at the texture. “I hadn’t noticed. What are you here for, again?”
“Ugh, we’ve literally been doing this for months, Techno! I come here every week to bake, and you never remember. I’m starting to think you don’t like baking.” Niki brushed past him, entering his kitchen like she lived there. From the work she gave Techno each week, she may as well own it.
“Right—- that was today?” Techno snorted at Niki’s exasperated sigh, taking off his cape to hang it up.

It had only taken a few days for Scar to discover Grian’s secret affair with BigB, when Grian set up a chest and heart in his base with Ren.
He hadn’t meant to find out, really—- he’d just wanted to see what Grian was doing, going to see BigB and Ren, since he was carrying gifts. If it turned out he was making an alliance, Scar was going to offer to help. Instead he got to watch as BigB found the note and gifts before getting rid of the evidence of Grian’s betrayal.
And now here Scar was, sitting in his sanctuary and taking comfort in his Jellies, wondering what he should do. He didn't want to leave Grian, even if that’s what Grian seemed to want from him.
