"It looks good." Steve takes in the fine black lines, notes how the skin is raised and red. Figures it must be new. "When did you get it?"
"Oh, I did it last night."
Steve looks back up to Eddie in surprise. "You did it? Like to yourself?"
He laughs, tosses his empty into the sink. "Hell yeah. Why not?"
Steve drains his own and leans back. "I could never."
"I could ink you up." Eddie looks at him like he's assessing, eyes trailing from fingertips back up to shoulders and then up to his eyes. "Would be a good look for you."
(Eddie does his own tattoos. Steve would look hot with some ink.)

"So, what do I get if I win?"
"What do you want?"
"I'm thinking, if I win..." Steve keeps his voice level and flicks his eyes up from the cards. "I get to spend the night."
Eddie's poker face drops and he just looks caught off guard - like he had at the front door - as if that was the last thing he'd been expecting (yet it was all Steve had been thinking about). A long moment passes and Steve gets a sinking feeling, like he had vastly misread all of this.
But then Eddie leans in, his elbow sliding forward on the table, and looks up at Steve and it's almost coy.
"Sounds to me like I can't lose."

Summary
Logically it doesn't make sense, but he wants Eddie to stay; he hopes his parents flight gets delayed so Eddie can keep sleeping in his bed, has never looked forward to going to sleep until Eddie was crawling in beside him night after night.
All this goes through his mind as he watches Eddie towel off. He's just tugging on his boxers when Steve steps up behind him, fingers trailing up his spine and catches a water droplet dripping from his long hair. He kisses between his shoulder blades.
"Hey." Steve says quietly. Stands a little closer so the front of his towel brushes against him, rests his hands on his sides just above his hips. Keeps pressing gentle kisses along the curve of his neck, down to his shoulder.
Steve is half-hard already and he bends his knees slightly to press in, press closer, and uses his hand to pull back on Eddie's hip. His voice is a quiet murmur. "You wanna?"

Summary
Eddie's bed is one of Steve's favourite places to sleep. It's smaller than his own, the mattress thinner, but Eddie is most himself there. Seems most at ease there, and that means Steve feels more at ease too.
Eddie slides his arm under Steve's head, pulls him in until Steve is in that cozy space by his shoulder. He's just trying to memorize the feeling of Eddie's ribcage but Eddie's muscles twitch and he grabs Steve's hand, presses it flat against his skin instead.
The question comes out before he can stop it. "Have you dated anyone before?"

"I don't think it would be like this with anyone else, though." Steve says, gets the words out before Eddie presses the needle to his skin. "Just you."
Because how could it. This is all about Eddie. This is barely about him, at all.
"Well, fuck." Eddie digs the needle into his back. Makes sweat break out on Steve's forehead. "Might need to do something about that when I'm all finished."
Steve stifles a groan, closes his eyes.
Steve has said "I love you" to Eddie - although accidentally - but he knows it's true. He feels the words burrowed deep in his chest and doesn't want to hide them, wants to speak them right out in the open. But he can't help but notice, even though Eddie seems happy to be with him, he hasn't said it back. Not once.
