Summary
"It was when he was five minutes away from locking up that the door opened, a gust of wind and rain breaking through the shop until the door closed. Wolfwood cursed, closing his eyes and wondering why people decided last minute to browse fucking books of all things. He was about to tell the customer that they were actually closing but stopped when he realised who entered.
Vash pulled his red hoodie down, shaking his head and trying to fluff up his wet hair. He looked like he was going to shake the rain off like a damn dog, but then remembered he was in a bookshop and stopped, grinning sheepishly at the unimpressed clerk.
“Hey, Nick!” He greeted with a wave of his prosthetic, bounding over to the counter where Wolfwood stood. His glasses fogged and he frowned, before taking them off and giving them a wipe."
or
Retail AU where Vash works in a clothing shop across from Wolfwood's bookstore, and Wolfwood, contrary to belief, is a sappy romantic.

Summary
“I’m not mad at you,” it seemed like it, “but it doesn’t seem like you care that I’m now losing out on money because of your stupid policy.”
She was right – he didn’t care. He was here out of obligation, to get money to live. He wouldn’t want to spend his free time here – who would? He would only give as much as he was paid, like any normal person. Of course, he couldn’t tell her that, instead he did what Vash did; widened his grin sickeningly.
“Well, ma’am, the only thing I can suggest is that you don’t lose your receipt next time.”
Or
Wolfwood and Vash take part in an exchange program, swapping jobs for week. Vash handles it better than Wolfwood, for the most part.

Summary
"And if he were looking, he would have seen the looming mountain of clothes heading straight towards him on wheels. As it were, he wasn’t looking and neither was the person behind the mountain, and both were sent crashing into each other.
Wolfwood ended up on his back, confused, not hurt, but very much pissed. He sat up, lips in a snarl. “Hey, watch where you’re going!”
The pile of fabric pulled back, and a spikey blonde rounded the rail with wide blue eyes. “Oh my God, I’m so sorry! Are you okay?”
Or
Retail AU, but pre-relationship where Vash and Wolfwood take a chance on each other. Maybe this time, life will be kinder.
