Summary
Waylon's hand grasped at the hardwood, his other arm around his knees as he waited patiently for Monty's call. Grounding himself, still rattled by the reality he found himself in.
He wasn't afraid, no. Not really. Not enough to leave. The part of him that was afraid was overpowered by a sort of sense of duty, a knowledge that Monty needed him more than ever, to be there to aid him in navigating this period of adjustment. And more than his sense of duty, he still cared for Monty, a notion that had become more dangerous than ever. He sighed.Everything was so different.

After an apparent attempt on his life, Mr. Burns is a recently turned vampire. Waylon Smithers, his assistant, can do little except help him adjust to his new life, but that hardly means he's adjusting well to their new routine. Set shortly afterwards in the late 90s.

Summary
Ten years since their lives had been changed, since Waylon had accidentally become enthralled to Monty. Not that he minded. Not that he had even noticed at first. They had learned together how to adapt, and it wasn't until later that Waylon learned the word for what he was. Familiar.
Then, Waylon's hair had been a little darker, his eyes brighter and less weary. The crow's feet at the corners of his eyes had been almost nonexistent, and Monty wondered sometimes if he resented him for waiting so long to answer. All the while, he had changed, and Monty stayed the same.
"Why won't you turn me, Monty?"
It was not the first time he had asked.
