The blast goes off and she falls.

He’s going to have to go up there. He’s going to have to face what he’s done.
His body feels heavier as he transforms and flies up, but he brushes it aside.
Instead, he focuses on preparing himself for whatever sight is awaiting from him on top. He’s lived through millions of years of war, seen the worst there is when it comes to death. Corpses that have been melted down, ripped limb from limb, crushed, blasted. He’s seen it all.
