*He had a routine. He would go to bed with Atsushi, until his lover's breathing evened out and he had entered a deep sleep. Ryu loved watching him breathe, softly blowing his bangs out of his face with each inhale and exhale. Breathing meant that he was still alive.
Then, he would shut his own eyes, and try to turn his brain off. Try not to think about the mafia, the unstable alliance between the mafia and the agency. What would happen if that alliance collapsed. When it would collapse. What that would mean for him and Atsushi.
It wasn’t usually very effective.*
