It had been a year or so now, since the magic ban had been reversed, months since Merlin became Court Sorcerer. And a few more weeks since Merlin's injury.
Arthur had finally given Merlin the Court-Sorcerer chambers he was promised, that just happened to be down the hall from the kings own .
Arthur would insist this was not on purpose, but everyone had seen them around the castle, holding and kissing each others hands, teasing each other as usual but with the addition of grinning at each other.
There had been a shift in their relationship, and it meant they were more protective of each other than usual. If it wasn't terrifying, it would probably be sweet.
But of course this is Camelot, not everything can stay perfect for too long. Destiny would never allow it.

The pain started when Newton was eleven years old. There was no trigger or inciting incident that he could have blamed for it, nothing to point at and identify as the source. There had been no accident, no injury, nothing. He simply woke up one day with his left leg hurting. In retrospect, the pain was not the first symptom. It had merely marked the point of no return, the moment when Newton could no longer entirely ignore the problem.
Newton suffers from a chronic pain condition and uses a cane, just like Hermann.

I have seen much pandemonium in my lifetime, Africa, the outback, the bush, but none of them is quite as unique as the mayhem I have entered a few days prior. The Holmes Clinic is not what many would think of when you’d think professional or specialists, it is more excellent disorder than anything else, that is something I can work with. Watson is a man that many respect, but in my professional opinion he is crazier than his friend he once wrote about. He is brilliant in a way many will never understand except those closest to him. Even getting closer to him I accept this one fact--
Out of all the puzzles in the Holmes Clinic John Watson was the one I cannot figure out.

He wondered if they looked into them and saw the darkness that he possessed.
Ever since he was small, he always depicted death in his art. He could remember the foster family he was with when he realized what he saw when he looked at them was real. He saw the man behind the steering wheel, eyes of a man already gone. He saw him slumped over the wheel and bleeding from his mouth. He saw it all, glass shattered and hands that had already fallen down… he saw it all and drew it to the best of his abilities.
