At the end of a long and arduous pursuit, Captain Gallagher and the crew of the Valor have been captured by the Affini Compact.
However, the Compact proves to be far more complex than anyone on the crew could have predicted, and the “loss” of over two hundred sophonts thanks to Gallagher’s gambit has kicked up a storm of inquiry surrounding the capture of the Valor, with maybe—just maybe—a path to freedom through its eye.
Adrian and his crew find themselves in the lions’ den. Faced with an insidious enemy that slips through the thinnest emotional cracks, they will have to stand together if they are to have a chance of making it through.
