"I'm coming son, give me a second." he shouts, voice rough with sleep and makes a move to get up but something-someone is holding him in place. On instinct he nearly panics, but the moment a familiar scent hits his nostrils and his brain is awake enough to register the comforting warmth of the body wrapped around him, he instantly relaxed.
Buck...
His strong arms tighten even more around Eddie's torso and he lets himself cherish his presence. Buck is here... His hold is so strong Eddie’s lungs are a little constricted, yet he has never breathed easier in his life.
or, two days after Eddie announces that he is leaving the 118, he wakes up in his bed in the middle of the night, with a sleeping Buck’s arms wrapped around him.

Summary
"Maybe you should go back to your girlfriend." he finally says, a bitter edge creeping into his voice.
Buck scoffs softly, gaze back at the wooden floor. "I don't have a girlfriend anymore."
Eddie ignores the rush of enthusiasm bursting inside him the moment Buck’s words register and turns to face him, brows furrowed in confusion. "She broke up with you?"
Buck’s vulnerability somehow fades; his response comes steady and fierce. "I broke up with her.”
Maybe it’s the rising percentage of alcohol in his blood; maybe it's the sleep deprivation Eddie is fighting as well; maybe it’s something else entirely. No matter the reason, Eddie can physically feel the atmosphere in the room changing. It’s like everything suddenly happens in slow motion. "I thought you liked her."
"I thought so too. But things changed for me too."
"What changed?"
"You got shot."
or, two days after Eddie announces that he is leaving the 118, Buck arrives at his doorstep, demanding answers

Summary
As the first rays of sunlight kiss his face, Eddie’s mind awakens from what feels like the deepest sleep he’s had in months. His eyelids slowly bat open, momentarily blinded by the strong light filtering through. It's undoubtedly well past dawn. Reality gradually kicks in, as he absorbs the world around him, the realization that he is not alone in bed sneaking to him gently. First, he feels him; always incredibly warm around him, holding him from behind securely, his chest expanding and contracting against the muscles of Eddie’s back. Then he sees his arm, resting heavily on top of his own, large palm and bitten nails, sparse arm hair gleaming gold in contrast with the black ink of his rings tattoo, thanks to the sun hitting directly at it.
It wasn’t a dream after all.
Eddie closes his eyes again, deciding he wants to prolong this first morning together as much as possible. Minutes pass by, without falling back asleep, just enjoying the place he is so blessed to be in. At some point Buck shifts slightly, letting out a soft sleepy grunt, another sound making it to Eddie’s ‘new favorite sounds’ list.
“Morning.” he mumbles, lips grazing against Eddie’s nape, where he plants the first kiss of the day.
