Summary
He wouldn't find anyone else's smile so disarming. The fact that he finds Van's is is unsettling. Mouth quirking to the side, Canderous hums and returns his attention to his armor. “I'd like to get this fixed before we land on Tatooine,” he mutters.
“By all means.”
Canderous doesn't move. He's frowning at the parts arrayed on the surface in front of him. Extending a hand, Van places the scanner back in his palm.
“Am I distracting you, Ordo?”
“Yes,” Canderous says, shooting them a look that he's sure isn't as cutting as it would be if it were meant for someone else. Judging by the way Van's smile widens, they know that, too.

"The dark side," Van murmurs, eyes cast towards where their hand is creeping towards Canderous'. "Is something of a misnomer, I feel. It does not feel dark. It simply feels... warm. Like a lover's touch. A kiss."

Summary
“What's wrong?” Van's eyes flick to the man - corpse. “Him? He was up to no good. I didn't think you'd care.”
Van seems genuinely surprised. Maybe even remorseful, if only because they think the act has earned them his disapproval. Canderous rolls his eyes. “I don't, particularly, but I like to know when I'm abetting murder.”
Van looks at the man in the dirt. “I don't think he's dead.”
“He's dead,” Canderous says flatly.

Summary
“Are you that good without a staff in your hand?” Canderous finds himself asking. Van's attention shifts to him. “Or have you neglected that facet of your training?”
“Are you any good without your blaster?”
Mission snickers. Canderous’ mouth pulls to the side. “I'm Mandalorian,” he says by way of explanation. “Figure it out.”
Van smirks. “I don't let myself get disarmed, Ordo.”
“Sounds like excuses.”
“If you can get this staff away from me,” Van says, looking him up and down, “You can find out.”

Summary
Jagi dies in the dunes of Tattooine, and Canderous watches the spill of hot blood across the sand. It's definitely not the first man he's watched die. Jagi isn't even the first one Canderous has watched take his own life. But this is the first one that leaves him feeling - numb. Heavy. His arms feel cold, his heart like a pit in his chest. For the first time in years, his blaster feels unfamiliar in his hands.

“All that deadly fire,” Van murmurs, “These killing hands.” Fingers spread across his palm, lacing through his own. Familiar calluses scrape against his own. “They're the same as mine. You have always seen me. You have never flinched away. I could never bring myself to hate you for it.”
Finally, Van's eyes lift back to him. Something burns within their depths. “I don't want you to be anything other than you are. Disregard your romantic delusions if that's what's stopping you. I'm not a child. I don't need your tenderness.”

“We should set some ground rules.”
To the left and by his feet, he feels Van exhale. Their voice is muzzy with sleep. “About what?”
“About whatever the hell it is we're doing.”
“Having sex is pretty straightforward. I didn't even have to teach you anything.”

“Saber burn,” Canderous says. It's not the only one Van has. A few on their shins and thighs. Several on their arms. Not unlike marks made when sparring, but Canderous doesn't think the Jedi would train with sabers capable of burning or severing limbs.
“It's too old to be a saber burn,” Van says. “It was on me when I woke up, well before I ever touched a lightsaber.”
“It's too broad to be from a blaster,” Canderous says. The tip of his forefinger traces the edges. “Look, see? Blaster burns are tapered at the end.” He shifts, displaying a mark on his ribs. It's faded, but the teardrop shaped patch of skin is still evident.
