Summary
“I have work to do, Atar,” Turgon argues, his face tense with the telling lines of his disinterest in conversation— this conversation.
“It can wait,” Fingolfin says, and grabs Turgon’s wrist, tugging him up out of his seat and to the door. “I have something I want to talk to you about, and I’d rather not do it sat in front of your desk while half of your mind is awash in thoughts of the papers you were working on.”
Turgon sighs, resigned, and allows himself to be dragged through the halls.

Summary
“It is disorderly,” He says, when he has found the words. “Imperfect.” Mairon pauses here, lets the name rest precariously upon the tip of his tongue, and wonders whether he should invoke it. Rolls his head to the side and watches the parts of Melkor’s face that he can see from his angle; unbothered.
“Eru made no room for imperfection.”

Summary
In a long twenty years Finwe had not seen his eldest son. Eldest of three— his little Feanaro, his spitfire, his Miriel’s last thread, unspooled. Twenty years ago Feanaro had fled, wife in hand, anger in heart; he had turned from Finwe and taken his fire and all of Finwe’s warmth with him.
In twenty years Finwe had not seen his son. And in fifteen minutes he would see him again.

Summary
Maglor wades into the water, whispering to himself of his brothers and sons and cousins, until the seawater fill his mouth and he can no longer speak, nor whisper. His eyes stay open, and it burns, but not nearly worse than how the Silmaril burned his hand— how it still burns his hand. Maglor watches for the white shine he has ached for this past Age, and instead finds eyes blinking back at him.
Ulmo drags him back to shore and spits him out of the sea.

Summary
Fingon falls to his knees and places his face in his hands. He had waited ages of the world for his son to be returned to him, so he might make amends and rebuild what he had lost, and what there had never been a chance to make. Now, his son is lost to him forever, else returned but eternally fractured. He feels Lady Nienna wrap her arms around him, and he cannot help but cry harder.
Maedhros does not fall broken the same way. “An elfling? Why?”
Námo looks mildly ruffled. “Elves are made with missing parts. You grow them as you age. An elfing, perhaps, could find it in them to grow these parts that Sauron ruined as well,” he explains.
“Could you not make Ereinion an elfling?”

Summary
He picked Nelyafinwë as an honour to his father: Finwë’s first grandson, the beginning of the third generation, and greater than his father— what is it they say, ‘the third time is the charm’? Nelyafinwë is a depiction of the boy himself; what he is, what he has begun, what he represents. Fëanáro would have the same for his second son.
