Summary
Neptune's voice shook far more than he wanted it too, the choked knot rising up his throat and making it so much harder to breathe, "Oh–oh no. Ah, sweetie what's wrong?"
Proteus cringed again, his expression changing into a yucky face as he shifted in Neptune's palm. Baby…the moon tilted his head up to the planet, eyes filled with discomfort and pain that cut Neptune's breath off.
No. No, no, no–your baby is in pain. You failed to protect. Again.
Fear spiked in his core, ringing in his ears and drowning out every other thought. Proteus' voice pitched higher, the quiet, strained words raking its claws through Neptune's core, "It's–it's too hot."

Summary
He was protecting. Loving. Caring. Things that those beasts never knew. He loved his babies so much, and cried himself to sleep because of all his failures. He cried until there was nothing left to cry. And then would just sit there. A waste of space dust as he lost himself to the storms of agonizing grief.
See, he's different–the monsters didn't do that. They didn't care. They didn't beg the universe for another chance to break free from the loop. They just wanted to take and take and take and never paid attention to how it hurt those around them.
Well Sun was paying attention.
And this was the only way to ensure nobody else got hurt.
No more death.
