Summary
"Arthur stopped short, jaw working. He wanted to push him away, to snarl that Verden didn’t understand. But the stubborn heat in Verden’s gaze made it clear he wasn’t going anywhere.
Finally, Arthur grunted. “Fine. But you stay close. No heroics.”
Verden’s mouth quirked, the tension loosening just enough for a grin. “Funny, I was about to say the same to you.”
Arthur snorted, shoving his helmet on to hide the way his lips twitched. “Bloody cheeky…”'
—
Arthur Nightingale thought he’d gotten used to the monster Entrati made of him—helminth armor skin, glowing eyes, sharper teeth, retractable claws, and the cursed rut that drove him into isolation every few months. What he hadn’t accounted for was Verden.
The Drifter was supposed to be just another teammate, another survivor clinging to life inside the ruined mall. But Arthur’s instincts didn’t see him that way. They snarled 'mine' every time Verden laughed with someone else, every time someone leaned too close.

Summary
“I miss you, A.”
Arthur closed his eyes. The words sank in like warmth after too much cold. “I miss you too, sweetheart. More than I’d like to admit.”
“Then admit it anyway, I want to hear it.”
He huffed a laugh. “Fine. I miss you so much it’s pathetic.”
“That’s better.”
—
Verden sets out on a longer than expected mission—Arthur sleeps poorly. Trains harder. Pushes himself too much. Misses his mate.
After being in a relationship for half a year, three weeks without Verden leaves him wound tight, running on instinct and want, barely keeping the beast in check. When Verden finally returns in a blaze of voidlight and violence, restraint shatters—and Arthur will do anything to reclaim what’s his.
(Second Part of a series, but can be read as a standalone!💙)
