“What are you doing here?” the blond asked, his heart kicking unevenly against his ribs.
“Avoiding the couples,” Kai said with a half-smirk that didn’t quite reach his green eyes. Lloyd huffed softly.
“What also brings you here? Also, did the kids finally stage a coup?” The fire wielder arched a brow.
“They’re asleep,” Lloyd replied. “Zane and Nya are covering tonight. I actually have the whole night to myself.” He hesitated, then nodded toward a nearby bar—a quiet, dim place mercifully free of heart-shaped decorations. “Wanna grab a drink? I just… didn’t want to be alone.”
Kai crossed his arms. “I’m not in the mood for a drinking game.”
“I’m not looking for a challenge,” Lloyd said, offering a small, genuine smile. “Just your company.”
Basically, Lloyd had the whole night for himself until he bumped into Kai, who was also wandering around.
