“I’m just concerned that she’s taking advantage of your kindness.” That wasn’t a complete lie, Robby did think Dennis had a soft heart for underdogs. He wasn’t sure as to why, but it was crystal-clear that nothing brought more satisfaction to Dennis than to help someone in desperate need.
“As opposed to you taking advantage of my kindness?”
“When have I ever taken advantage of your kindness?!” Robby tried to sound sarcastic and funny, but ended up sounding wounded and vulnerable. For some reason, Dennis seemed to enjoy his reaction.

Robby was caring, he was sweet, he paid attention, he was loving and, most importantly, he provided for everything. For over a year now, absolutely everything was paid for.
Groceries? Paid for. Dinners in nice restaurants? Already accounted for. The drinks they occasionally had with their friends after a long shift? Robby religiously picked up the tab.
