Summary
The fault is Faramir’s. Ever since he had been born, he had brewed this dark storm in the Steward’s soul. Took his mother’s life and likeness. Tempted his father, corrupted him, burned his very soul. But Denethor will not burn at the stake by himself. He will not allow his son to go unpunished for the torment he has put him through.
So whenever Faramir returns home from his missions, he traps his son in a naked embrace. He watches him writhe like a salted worm on the bed sheets as he penetrates his being so his body too may burn, may know what torture he inflicts on his father’s psyche.
Faramir’s bed has become the Steward’s altar of sin. Upon the cold slab, morality is sacrificed in exchange for a burning pleasure they should not have shared.
If Denethor is ruined, so should his son. He is, after all, a mirror of himself, isn’t he?

Summary
He should be happy that he earned everything he wanted in the end. His brother returning alive to him, Middle Earth saved from a grave threat, the King returning and Gondor restored to its former glory. He lost many friends but made new ones. It’s the best ending he could ask for, and yet…
He was not happy.
The wounds are healing but they still ache. The things he locked away in a carefully crafted compartment burst free. In the quiet brought by peace, the noise inside his head grew loud. Now there was more time to think about the complexities of his relationships, to absorb the shock of his father’s deeds throughout his life.
The sin weighed heavy in his heart, sealed tight with the oath of silence he swore to his Lord. It’s getting harder and harder to keep up with the façade, to ignore the tremors, the flightiness, the fatigue, the anxiety.
