Why did her mother never care about her? She never cared about what Tamba had to say, or what Tamba wanted to do.
Tears threatened to boil over, and Tamba could feel the weight of her jacket when it rubbed against her eyes. "She's not— she's not a bad person, Mom." Her breathing was a little heavier than it usually felt. "Nishino is nice to me, she's my best friend."
God, best friend would be an understatement. Nishino was everything.
Tamba's Mom started a conversation in the car, though it might've been a mistake attempting to respond with the line of thinking she has.
