Varigo Week Day 1: “I promise”
So, would anyone believe him if he said he never meant for this to happen? Sure, he did sign his name. Write his signature. Say time and time again that he wanted this. But well, how much value do you place on a guys word when he has no idea what he’s signed up for?
…
After a failed execution and an ill-advised deal with a demon, Hugo finds himself trapped in a promise he can’t escape. With his soul on the line and his freedom slipping further and further away, breaking the promise might be his only chance at survival.

Day 2: Burn
After 327 years, Varian’s body was cold. Fingers numb to the touch. Heart empty, rotting, shaped like coal. Eyes distant, hazed over with centuries gone by, but nothing to marvel over. Humans got electricity. Humans got robotics. Same old, same old. There was always something, but even the most ingenious did not impress him any longer.
…
Being immortal, Varian’s heart is cold to the touch. But then he meets Hugo, and suddenly it can beat again.
However, the problem with getting your heart back is that it can always be ripped out.

Day 3: Dance
“I’d rather kill myself,” Varian huffed, pushing away from Rapunzel before she stepped in front of him.
“Varian,” she tried to stop him, but it only made him try harder to get away.
“No, Rapunzel, there’s nothing you can say, there’s no way you can get me to work with that guy,” Varian crossed his arms.
Rapunzel repeated, “Varian.”
Varian fisted his arms, raising his voice as Rapunzel didn’t even flinch. She was probably used to it by now, “He’s an arrogant, controlling and entitled brat with a god awful haircut!”
“Varian.”
“What?” Varian exclaimed, “It’s ghastly. Who did that anymore? An undercut?”
…
Nuru breaks her leg a week before the biggest dance competition of the year, leaving Varian without a partner and completely out of options.
Unfortunately, Hugo Rottewange is also available.
Forced to compete together despite years of rivalry, mutual annoyance, and one truly unfortunate hotel room arrangement, Varian and Hugo quickly discover that dancing is a lot easier than getting along.

Day 4: Too Little, Too Late
He didn’t know that was the last thing he would say to him. The last time he’d see him. If he had, he’d say something better. Tell him that he loved him. Tell him that he wanted a proper future with him, something they had danced around but never truly explored. He’d say he loved his eyes. He’d take him to a secret alcove and just sit with him. He’d stargaze with him. He’d kiss him silly. He’d—
There were so many possibilities. So many things left unsaid and so many things left undone. But time was a cruel master, and wouldn’t let him live out any.
Varian was found dead at 16:27, just behind the alchemy shop.
…
Hugo would do anything to save Varian.
But every attempt to change the outcome only tightens the loop around them both, until Hugo is forced to decide how far he’s willing to go to stop the death he can’t escape.

…
Hugo takes an arrow meant for Varian.
Unfortunately, saving his life means treating the wound himself. Varian can handle this. He’s done this before. He’s handled much worse.

Day 6: Secrets
Hugo had completed every mission he’d ever been assigned. He was a weapon. He knew his purpose. He was made to kill, he was given a target, and he did it perfectly. He never got attached. He never overstayed his welcome. He was always in and out.
But this one? This one was proving difficult.
Hugo had a secret: he had been ordered to kill Varian three days ago.
…
Varian is trying to confess his feelings.
Hugo is trying to kill him.
Both are doing a surprisingly terrible job.

Day 7: Free Day
They fell into a not so comfortable silence. Hugo sat there, twiddling his thumbs. Why was he doing this? This wasn’t a normal interrogation procedure at all? Meaning he was doing this of his own accord, which again didn’t make sense. Varian didn’t like him like that. Why would he care?
He can’t like him like that. Or Hugo would explode.
Varian avoided eye contact as he spoke, “Have you ever fallen for someone you shouldn’t?”
…
After being caught stealing from the royal vault, Hugo expects prison, interrogations, and a very long sentence.
He doesn’t expect the Royal Alchemist to keep showing up with books.
Unfortunately for both of them, things only get worse from there.
