Summary
Steve comes home after returning the stones but he wouldn't say why, only:
"Got my dance."
Now Bucky has to figure out if he's the one Steve wants or just what's left.
Real slow burn, like Nat Shermans.
(Post-Endgame and Flag-Smasher rewrite.)
Update: I've been doing another round of proofreading and editing, currently up to chapter 24.

Summary
Steve and Bucky are engaged post-Endgame.
Bucky is a semiconductor facility security consultant. Steve petitions for the rights of stateless migrant workers in Washington DC after the Flag Smasher incident. In August 2025, they take vacation at Big Bend National Park in Texas, where the border is just geology and the night sky is genuinely dark and something looks at them from a distance and decides to move on.
A trip through art and nature where Steve and Bucky deconstruct what it means to have been used as national myth, propaganda and weapons.
The story of how two Brooklyn boys make a life of chosen meaning after everything.

Brooklyn, July 1938. The same Saturday from both sides of one silence.
Steve knows exactly what Bucky's doing with all those girls. Bucky has no idea what he just walked into.
A dropped hot dog, a forty-minute subway sulk, and a peace offering that goes off like a landmine.
"He'd built the bomb and lit it and handed it over and called it Sunday."
