Why, after years of plotting and planning and stewing in his anger at being replaced and never being properly avenged, would he ever decide to not go through with his very carefully thought out revenge plot?
Because Timothy Drake is a freak of nature.
He got to the tower using his codes as he’d planned to. It looked empty, but he knew his replacement was in there somewhere. He’d found the boys room, which seemed empty but he knew not to underestimate a Robin. Using his helmets night vision he’d looked around to find the rich little fuck he was about to kill and instead found his own face. Everywhere.
There were photos of him on the wall like how a normal kid would have posters of artists or movies they liked. Photos he doesn’t know could have possibly been taken covering the walls like wallpaper. Some of them were of Dickface and the Big Bat, but most of it was him. It was fucking weird.

Currently he was giving the same expression he always did when Jason got in trouble, like when he’d found out he got in a fight at school. “You killed fifty people yesterday.”
“Oh, is that what this is about?” He deadpanned. No fucking shit that’s what it was about, it doesn’t take the world's best detective to put two and two together. “Why are you talking to me about it?”
“Because you killed people. A lot of people. You need to face the consequences of your actions. What you did was wrong, you have to understand that.”

Shit, he’d never checked back in on Tim had he, just assumed that Dickface would have it covered like he always did. But what if he didn’t? Goddamnit, this was a major oversight. “Is he okay?’

"God, I just wish he got more sleep.”
Jason snorted at that. The whole speech about how great the new Robin is was triggering the pit rage he’d been trying so hard to bury inside, but that last sentence was able to shock it out of him. “Yeah, I noticed. I tried telling him, but I’m not sure how well he listened. I’m sure you’ve tried as well.”
“Oh, so many times. He never listens.” Dick laughed as well, face retaining a small smile even after he was done. “Alfred has to cut off his supply of coffee every few weeks, which seems to work. Recently I heard he’s taken to hot chocolate as a caffeine-free alternative.”
It startled him a little to realize that he was smiling as well. Conversation with his brother was always easy, even when he didn’t know it was him apparently. Maybe… maybe he’d be able to come back one day, he decided. Just to visit Alfred and let Dick know his little brother wasn’t dead. Never for Bruce. But for the rest of them, maybe he’d try.

It was three forty seven in the morning when he got the alert that someone had entered his safe house. Usually, this would spur him into action and he’d be out the door in seconds, but it was three am so his reaction time was a bit off and he fell back to sleep only to bolt up in bed five minutes later like he’d just woken from the dead (again), stood up, and ran out the door, only taking a pause to grab his domino before he was running barefoot through the streets.
Since allowing him to use the safehouse, Tim had shown up occasionally for some company or some peace, whichever he needed at the moment, but never had he shown up this late at night.
Bursting in through the front door in nothing but his Wonder Woman pajama pants and a red shirt that said this shirt is blue, he was met with an extremely tired looking Timothy Drake who seemed to be making coffee in his kitchen. “Alfred locked the cupboard with the coffee in it again.” Was the only explanation he gave.

Tim was over at the safe house again, as he had at least one night a week for the last six months, stuffing his face with the creamy rice dish Jason had made while grumbling about getting in trouble with Bruce again. Honestly, none of it was making a whole lot of sense, but he was much more upset about it than any of the times he’d been benched, so it must have been a pretty bad blowout.
So, he’s got a grumpy Robin across from him who was eating in the most agitated way he thinks he’s ever seen. After the third time the kid mumbled himself into a frustrated scream, Jason decided to ask what the fuck his problem was. “Okay kid, what the fuck is your problem?”
“He fired me!” He erupted, shoving a particularly aggressive bite into his mouth. “I suggested we discuss more permanent methods to dealing with a few of our regulars and he said that I’d been spending too much time sneaking off and hanging out with you and he fired me! I didn’t even say we should kill them, just send them somewhere they genuinely can’t ever escape!”

Okay screw it, prodding more would have to do. “Have you not been sleeping? Eating? What’s going on kid?”
“I just-” He hesitated. “Bruce just got a new kid and he- he- I can’t exist around him! I can’t eat because he keeps trying to put things in my food and I can’t sleep because he keeps hiding in my room to attack me as soon as I’m out. He hates me so much. He spends every day trying to kill me and I don’t want to die but Bruce says I can’t leave because I need to help welcome the creature to Gotham but I just can’t take it anymore.”
