“How would you feel about having a baby sibling, Dick?” Bruce asked.
Dick leapt into the air, antennae snapping to attention and his wings shimmering. “A baby sibling?! Did you find another kid? Are they a human or a fairy?”
“Well,” Bruce said. He looked over to Talia, sitting beside him on the couch, and he took her hand in his own. “Actually.”
“Actually, what?” he asked.
“Well,” Bruce said again. “Talia and I are going to try to have a human baby together.”
Dick’s jaw dropped.

Summary
The pixie mill had held her for ten years. Steph had kept track of the time using the length of her pregnancies and the gaps between her heats as measurement. During those ten years, she became pregnant nine times. Carried seven babies to term. There had been two sets of twins.
Four miscarriages.
Fairies go into heat once every six months. Steph didn’t catch for her last three heats, and three was the magic number. The pixie mill disposed of their used up breeding stock after that.

Summary
In the old stories, fairies would often disguise themselves as hags and beggar women, before approaching a king and asking for help. How the king responded would determine what sort of "gift" the fairy gave him-- treasure and power and riches and blessings... or a curse.
Fairies never really stopped doing that. They simply modernized.
Duke has a lot of fun with it.
